They include overcoming adversity; crime does not pay; the importance of family; sacrifices bring reward; man struggles against nature; death is part of the life cycle; humans all have the same needs; man struggles against society; yin and yang; friendship is dependent on sacrifice; man struggles to understand divinity; and love is the worthiest of all pursuits.
