What is the life cycle of a green basilisk lizard?

A basilisk starts out as a chicken egg, but then is hatched by a toad rather than a chicken. They can live for hundreds of years, but I don't know if they can reporduce as they are born from chicken eggs. Eventually, they will die naturally or be killed by someone awesome like Harry Potter.
