The planes involved in the September 11 attacks in 2001 originated from three airports on the East Coast of the United States: American Airlines Flight 11 took off from Boston Logan International Airport, United Airlines Flight 175 also departed from Boston, and American Airlines Flight 77 was hijacked after leaving Washington Dulles International Airport. United Airlines Flight 93 took off from Newark International Airport. All four planes were subsequently hijacked by terrorists and used in the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
