The first district: Rob Whitman, a married, male, republican from the DC suburbs and a former mayor before taking office in 2007. He suceeded Jo Ann Davis who was the second woman and the first republican woman to represent Virginia in the US House. He represents what is called a safe Republican District and spent his earlier years as a state health and environmental employee.
The second district: Glenn Nye, a single, male, democrat from Norfolk and former State Department foreign service officer. A freshman, he defeated his opponent in a close party change election.
The third district: Bobby Scott, a divorced black, male, democrat from Newport News in office since 1993, an attorney and Army Veteran who was un-opposed in the 2000, 2002, and 2006 election. He is noted for his opposition to the death penalty.
The fourth district: Randy Forbes a married republican from Chesapeake and a former attorney.
The fifth district: Tom Perriello a single, freshman, democrat and attorney from Ivy.
The sixth district: Veteran republican Bob Goodlatte of Roanoke he is a married, attormey with a strong position against on-line gambling and the need for proof of Citizenship for future US Presidents, in view of the Urban Legend about the birthplace of Barak Obama.
The seventh district: Eric Ivan Cantor a republican attorney from Richmond's suburbs and the only Jewish republican in the US Congress and noted for the 2002 election run against Ben "Cooter" Jones of Dukes of Hazard Fame and his strong criticism of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
The eighth district: Jim Moran a married veteran Alexandria democrat and former Alexandria Mayor who is often maligned and frequently at odds with his own party leadership.
The ninth district: Veteran democrat and Abington attorney in office since 1983 he first married in 2006 at the age of 60, He is noted for his interest in height technology and the internet. He was an Obama supporter from a district that solidly backed Hillary Clinton.
The tenth district: Army Veteran and Vienna attorney Frank Wolf is a republican who has held his office since 1981 and is the Dean of the Virginia Delegation.
The eleventh district: Another freshman democrat Gerry Connolly is a graduate of the Harvard Kennedy School of Government is married and a resident of Mantua.
