How do you plug Nintendo into tv?

Connecting through the component cable you get 420p resolution. This doesn't qualify as High Definition [HD] but as Enhanced Definition [ED].

I've played games using 420p up to a 50" screen - it looked fine, and I wouldn't hesitate to go higher.

It is really the size of your room determines what is the largest size screen that will work for you.
