Where was the steamboat made?

John Fitch! John Fitch 1743-1798 was granted the first United States patent for a steamboat on August 26, 1791.

However it was Robert Fulton (1765-1815)who became known as the "father of steam navigation." As a result of designing steam boats that were economically successful.
