Eli Whitney was born in Westborough, Massachusetts, where he spent much of his early life. He later moved to New Haven, Connecticut, for his education at Yale College. After inventing the cotton gin, he lived in various locations, including Georgia, where he worked on his invention, and eventually settled in New Haven, where he lived until his death.
