Why do people eject something they don't understand?

because when people are confused it makes them sad and angry, so they don't know what to do, they don't want to feel stupid, because then they'll project their sadness and anger on themselves so they reject it because they don't want to feel bad about themselves, they'd rather lie to themselves than be stupid.
