trade is where all the influince and ideas come from. so i think the main ideas of the spread would be trade, the printing press as well.
Edit: After 1500, European expansion and the growth of Atlantic trade connected Western Europe to the eastern Mediterranean and the world beyond. These changes central to subsequent economic growth created a world of commercial competiveness. Now, there was a vibrant market for merchants and new opportunities for ambitious monarchs and governments. Yet this was also the market of the Renaissance scholars or humanists. With the new needs and opportunities for commercial urban life, their services were for sale like any other commodity and like merchants they were willing to sell their services to the highest paying customer whoever he/she might have been. With the start of the Renaissance, the amount of patronage increased significantly. More and more works of art were commissioned -that is, they were ordered by a patron (the person paying for the work of art), and artists highly benefited from the patronage of rich merchants and rulers, princely courts and the papacy.
