Who were the heroes of the crusades?

There were, without doubt heroic acts carried out by individuals. What and where are not recorded with any rigour.

It should be remembered that the morality, ethics and beliefs were very different in those days and on the whole, would be viewed today as acts of greed and power grabbing.
