Christianity Christianity has always taught that heaven is a place of eternal life. There are no bodily limitations. No hunger, thirst, death, or sickness cf.. Isiah 1:25, 4:4, 33:24, 35:5-6, 49:10, 65:20-24, Jeremiah 31:12-13, Ezekiel. 34:29, 36:29-30, Micah 4:6-7, Zephaniah. 3:9-19, Matt 13:43. The Dutch Catholic Catechism states: "Those who die in God's grace and friendship and are perfectly purified and live forever. This perfect life with God is called heaven. It is the ultimate end and fulfilment of the deepest human longings, the state of supreme happiness, full aliveness and complete openness to God and one another." Saint Thomas Aquinas wrote that "Even in heaven our knowledge God, and the enjoyment of His presence will never be exhausted." It is a place where we shall see God (Matthew 5:8) who dwells in "..inaccessible light" (I Timothy 6:16) "...as He really is". (I John 3:2) So, for Christianity, heaven is a place of deep, abiding and eternal happiness, where people experience being fully alive in the presence of God and one another, without bodily illness or fear of rejection by anyone. Islam Islam portrays Heaven as being like a garden, full of beautiful trees, plants, rivers and fruits, rich food and expensive clothes. There is no fear, sorrow or pain and every wish is fulfilled. BuddhismThere are several heavens in the teachings of Buddhism; however, each is an illusion and the soul will eventually leave on its journey to nothingness. There is no clear position as to how one will feel in these heavens. Judaism There is no definite teaching on what it will be like in heaven.
