How many are the hominids?

There are currently six recognized extant hominid species, including Homo sapiens (humans), as well as members of the genera Pan (chimpanzees and bonobos), Gorilla (gorillas), Pongo (orangutans), and Homo (Neanderthals and Denisovans).
