A Few Ways to View Pending Friend Requests
After many edits of their privacy features, Facebook has removed the function to view a list of sent and pending friend requests. There are, however, a few efficient-albeit slightly complicated-ways to view this information.
One way is to navigate through your complete friends list.
If the request is still pending, it will read "Friend Request Pending" under the name.
If you're curious about a friend request sent to a specific person, you can also search for them in the search box at the top of your Facebook homepage.
"Awaiting friend confirmation" will appear at the top of the page, next to their name, if the request is still pending. The "Add as Friend" link will appear if the request has been ignored.
An application is also available to provide a quick and easy view of your pending friend requests. A new version of this application is currently being developed, which will allow you to not only view pending requests, but also see who has 'unfriended' you and who has ignored a request.
If you are interested, there is also a way to view recently-added friends. These are friends who have either sent you a request, or who you have sent requests to.
Friend Requests vs. Facebook Invites
Some confusion has been raised in a number of discussion forums regarding the difference between friend requests and Facebook invites. A friend request is sent between two Facebook members. An invite is sent by one Facebook user to a non-Facebook user, inviting that person to create an account. If you're interested, there are ways to view any past or pending Facebook invites.
Here you will be able to view a list of sent invites. You can sort this list by recipient, invitees who have joined, invitees who have not joined, and date sent.
