To treat a bone bruise, there are few things you can do. You can ice it, no more than 20 minutes at a time, and without having the ice directly on your skin. You can elevate it, to help reduce the swelling. The ice will help reduce swelling as well. You can take ibprofen, which will help with the pain and with the swelling. Let it rest... it is extremely easy to re-injure the area and cause even more damage, and a more painful bone bruise. It is also recommended that you do NOT wrap it. Bone bruises can take days to weeks to recover from, depending on the severity of the injury. Traumatic bone bruises can take months to heal.
