What is the difference between accident and incident with example?

Although in common day sentences there is no big difference, accident is not as formal as the Word incident. In other Words the police would used the Word incident .e.g. at the was an incident at the bus stop late last Sunday. (A public disturbance) An accident is more commonly used to describe an everyday situation. But really there is no big difference and they both generally mean a casualty caused from an action which was not meant to happen.
