How do you ask monetary donations for a death a co-worker's father?

First, begin to spread the Word and why your friends or co-workers might care. For example: "Did you hear? Cathy's father died. Yeah, it's heartbreaking because her mom isn't well and George had a stroke. I'm collecting money for a donation to Cathy for flowers, or funeral expenses, or whatever she needs it for. Can you contribute with us?"

Second, you could put a can on your desk, with "Donation" marked on it. Take it around with you on breaks and lunch to ask more people.

Third, don't forget your Supervisors and bosses. The Owner of a company might decide to donate "on behalf of the company."
