John Wilkes Booth was killed on April 26, 1865, about 12 days after assassinating President Abraham Lincoln. At the time of his death, he was located in a barn in Port Royal, Virginia, which is approximately 60 miles from Washington D.C. Booth had fled the city and traveled southward to evade capture.
