"Normal" Testosterone levels will vary from person to person. So actually there is no 'set' normal, such as you would find in a red or white blood count. My experience, as a 59 year old white male is as follows. My testosterone was what my doctor described as "normal" in the mid 400's range.

However, I was experiencing fatigue, low sex drive, extreme hot flashes, a sense of worthlessness as my wife put it "a grumpy OLD man", and gaining weight around the mid section. After explaining this to my doctor he agreed to try biweekly testosterone injections of 200 ml. This was a great help beginning the day after I would inject myself and last about 6 to 7 days there after. My injections are now weekly with 150ml. I now feel great beginning the day after the injection and generally lasting for about 6 days. By the time the 7th days rolls around I am more than ready for my weekly injection.

I feel that when I return to my doctor in November I am going to ask if weekly injections of 200ml would resolve the issue of ups and downs. By the way, I have lost 42 pounds, I am only the "grumpy old man" as my injection day nears and I feel more energized and hot flashes only around the 6th day after the injection. I can honestly say that I feel like I am 35 or 40 again. I was ready for the rocking chair and chasing kids off the lawn before I found the hormone replacement therapy

I am truly thankful for my VA Doctor Who had the knowledge to go outside the box and go with the testosterone injections even though I was well in the "normal" range. I would suggest to anyone that if you are experiencing these types of symptoms please urge your doctor to at least try testosterone. Realizing that it is not for everyone, however, there are many men and WOMEN that can take advantage of this type of treatment.

I forgot to add that my wife also receives a MINOR dose of testosterone and her results are amazing as well. However, be extremely careful. Too much testosterone in women can have disastrous effects, effects that may be permanent. Injections are NOT, repeat are NOT for women unless your doctor prescribes and then get a second opinion! My wife's levels were around 10 to 12 before the treatments now she is feeling great . I can't imagine life before this treatment nor how I would feel today without them.
