Why isn't double cream available in the US?

Double cream isn't commonly available in the US primarily due to differences in dairy regulations and standards between the US and the UK. In the US, heavy cream, which contains around 36% milk fat, is the closest equivalent, while double cream has a higher fat content of around 48%. The lack of demand for higher-fat creams and the preference for lighter cream varieties also contribute to its limited availability in the American market.
