What is the difference between a crow bar and a tamping iron?

A tamping iron tamps loose soil to give a firm base, such as around post holes after erecting a fence. A crow bar is used to pry two surfaces apart, such as two boards nailed together. A crow bar usually starts the job, but additional tools and measures are used to finish the job.
