1.in making fertilisers which are chemical compounds or salts to increase fertility of soil.

2.we can check pH of soil by means of universal indicator hence can use suitable fertiliser to neutralise soil because plants grow best in neutral soil.

3.chemical compounds like ethene is used to ripen unripe fruits.

4.glycerine like compounds or waxes are used for packing of perishable fruits because they do not let moisture of fruits to escape.
