Yes 3gb ram is good.Most basic computer tasks may seem to load faster, it is also nice for more advanced users. Just keep in mind if you are running a 32bit system then your computer will only acknowledge 3gb and no more (this is not a issue however as you you need only around 3gb ram for even advanced user applications). 64 bit systems will show more than this.
