The Electric fan heater was invented by Richard Cameron Ward in 1935. It consisted of an enclosed circular drum with a wound wire on ceramic mounted heating element secured on short struts in front of a standard 'Boys' 12" Desk fan. Although Cameron Ward took out a provisional patent the idea was taken and finally commercialised by the General Electric Company.
Ward went on to become the Superintendant engineer at Windsor Castle.
