How did henry the viii treat the people around him?

Henry VIII was at first great friends with the pope and was made protector of the faith. He then wished to get a divorce but the pope would not allow it so he declared himself head ofteh church in England and not the pope. this allowed the protestants to come up strongly but Henry never became a protestant.
