In the men's 200m at the 1986 Commowealth Games there was a dead heat between Mike McFarlane (England) and Allan Wells (Scotland), who both clocked 20.43.

Allan Wells is the last white athlete to win the Olympic 100m Gold (1980) and Mike McFarlane was a member of the silver medal-winning 4x100m relay team at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

Due to the historic dead-heat (first in the 200m at the Commonweath Games), there was no silver medal awarded.
