Did Giovanni da Verrazzano accomplish his goals?

Giovanni da Verrazzano was an Italian explorer who sailed for France. He is known for exploring the east coast of North America, including areas that are now part of North Carolina and New York. While he did not find a northwest passage to Asia as he intended, his voyages helped to increase European knowledge of the East Coast of North America.
