You shouldn't. The caffeine in coffee actually changes your body's metabolism of fats and sugars. It stimulates the breakdown of stored body fat which is then released as sugar into the bloodstream. This can cause higher than normal levels of both sugar and triglycerides in the blood as compared to a normal fasting state.
