There has never been a revolution in Britain. There has been a Civil War which comprised a series of battles between the Royalists

• the supporters of King Charles 1 - and the Parliamentarians or

Roundheads, who opposed him and wished to establish a democratic Parliament. The battles took place between 1642 and 1651 during which time Charles 1 was tried and executed for treason and his son Charles 11 defeated and sent into exile. Parliament was then established. Parliaments were legally established in the Magna Carta, but there were meetings between the king and his barons before that.
