How do you remove dried adhesive from finished cabinets?

From what I know you have to resand them down?

sharp corners on knives or razors can damage the surface of the cabinet, as will sanding. When repairing furniture or cabinets i remove as much glue as possible with a lightly dampened sponge. After the glue has dried I have a chisel on which I've rounded the corners, to keep from gouging the wood. This is good to carefully scrape off hardened glue while keeping surface damage to a minimum.
