Who does Taiwan belong to?

It belongs to the Taiwanese people. Chang Kai-Shek and his nationalist followers fled (with emphasis on fled) to Taiwan from Mao Zedong's communist rule. Ever since then, Taiwan has been its own country and rules its own government.
