Is there a God watching over us?

We don't actually know.

Followers of some faiths believe there is.

Followers of other faiths believe that there is/was a God which was involved in the creation but that this God plays no part in the activity of either the people on Earth in particular, or in the life of the Universe in general.

Other people don't believe that there is or was a God at all

Other people say that we can neither prove the existence of God, nor the non-existence of God.

None of these people accept as real evidence the 'evidence' which is sufficient for those who hold a particular view.

It has been said that we should act as if there is a God watching over us. If there is, we will have been right, and if there isn't, it won't matter.

One problem with that argument is "Which God is watching?" as the various claimants have laid down different sets of rules for the game of life.

ABSOLUTELY!! You need only look at the preciseness of everything, the stars all have a place, the clouds, the trees, the sky, the sun, the moon. Everything gives testimony of a Living God. If you seek Him, you will find Him; all it takes is curiOSity to take that first step of finding God. Once you do, you will be FREE like never before. What I mean by this is, you will begin to know a peace that you never knew before, you will begin looking at His creation, like never before. It changes you on the inside & then you begin wanting to do good things for God, like helping others even when there is nothing in it for yourself. You begin to transform into someone that God can use to make a difference in this world. Start praying and asking God to show you things. He will do this for you because He wants you to know Him & love Him. Start going to church, people there will help you to get the answers you long for.

Just as we cannot see the wind, though we know it's there, so it is with God. People say we can't prove this but we can't prove a lot of things. Faith is believing in something even though you can't prove it. (Like the wind...we can feel it, & smell it, but we can't see it). We each have a choice to believe or not to believe. Read The Bible it tells you everything you would want to know about God and how to live, and how to get to heaven or hell. I would recommend reading the NEW LIVING BIBLE (it is the easiest to understand).

and until the lord returns, the Holy Spirit, the Promise of God the Father is here and indwells with us.

Luke 24:49

Considering the Holy Spirit is in us, and God is Omni-Present I would say He knows everything. He knew you even before you were born.
