Why did Pete Sampras get given the nickname pistol pete?

Pistol Pete got that nickname, because his serves were fast, accurate, and awesome. Especially when his 2nd serve averages in 1 hundred teens whereas everybody else's second serve are mainly in the 90s and low 100s.
