What was the pueblo indians land like?

There still are Pueblo Indians living today, they refer to themselves as the Hopi and the Navajo. They live in impoverished slums in reservations.

Before European contact they lived in complex multistoried apartment complexes (a few still do). It is assumed that they had a sophisticated and technologically advanced society.
