Your chance of getting pregnant per cycle (called your cycle fecundicity) is about 35% on average (not very good!). It may take several months of trying in a normally fertile couple. Fertility also decreases sharply with age starting at around age 35. A simple way to improve your chances would be to pick up a fertility monitor, which is available at your local pharmacy and will help tell you the days you are ovulating. For most women this is around day 14 (for a 28 day cycle) and 14 days before your period begins for longer/shorter cycles. After that, or if you've been trying for more than 6 months to 1 year you should consult a fertility specialist (special type of doctor). They will test your boyfriend's semen to ensure he has enough sperm and that they are normal. They will then test you to make sure you are ovulating, and that there are no problems with your anatomy or genes that would prevent you from getting pregnant.
