Will the Mediterranean sea grow bigger over time?

The northern movement of Africa into Europe will eventually close the Mediterrnean in the west after some 50 million years. By 150 million years, the fusion of the continents will make the Mediterranean an interior lowland, barring some mountain upthrust as occurred with the Himalayas in Asia.
