Who invented the ETF?

I did in 1991.

I was working at a inter-dealer broker and my father ran a international bond fund. i was trading my RRSP between funds and wanted a more up to date inter day valuing of Mutuals funds held at TD Bank. I mentioned based on my experience at the interdealer i was workeing for they should trade my fathers bond fund and other funds on an exchange ( i.e the exchange company i was working for). Thery should call it an Exchanjge traded fund. No fancy name just that.

This is the truth and i have waited until now to share this.
