You would think cooking a whole chicken at 450 degrees would be completely dry, although this is one of the easiest and most flavorful ways to roast a whole chicken. You can lace the legs up and pull the wings into the chicken, but it is not necessary. A little salt and pepper rub on the skin and inside the chicken. You can also stuff a couple of garlic cloves under the skin. Be sure to use a broiler pan to catch the drippings otherwise the grease will splatter on the walls of your oven and smoke up your house. A 5-6 lb chicken will take approximately 70 minutes.
