Why do people hate hockey?

There are so many reasons why (none of them justifiable): they don't understand it (when it's a simpler game than, say, Rugby union); they stereotype players as gay or weak (when hockey is almost the most evenly balanced sport sex-wise, and would you want to brawl with people who can hit a ball at almost 100mph?); or maybe they just hate things because they don't like them ("if you aren't with us you're against us", no indifference there).
