In the book The Inner Circle by Gary Crew what was Tony's relationship with his mother?

Their relationship was distant. Tony missed his childhood, where she was the typical loving mother, but now she buys his affection with money. They never talk and are not close, and neither knows anything about the other on a personal levl, but Tony still loves his mother deep down. He has subconsciously put walls up around her because of the way she hurt him, and is still hurting him.
