Best shown with an example.

Say 2/3 X 5 4/5

#1 convert to an Improper (top heavy) fraction

Hence 2/3 X 29/5

#2 cancel down where possible. In this case cannot cancel down; no common factors.

#3 ; multiply the numerators(top) together, and then multiply the denominators(botton).

Hence

58/15

#4 ; Convert back to a mixed number.

58/15 = 3 13/15 The answer!!!!
