Do raccoons hunt during the day or night?

Raccoons are generally considered as nocturnal animals. However, it is not unusual for them to be active in daylight hours, also. This is especially true for nursing mother raccoons who dare lot leave the young unattended during cold nights. She must forage for food to continue producing milk.
