All refrigeration cycles operate on the theory of changing states of a refrigerant to remove and reject heat.

To remove heat, liquid refrigerant is exposed to the air passing through the evaporator, the removed heat causes the liquid refrigerant to boil, or change state liquid to a vapor, consequently, the heat is rejected by removing heat and condensing the vapor back to a liquid.
