What is all pervading spirit?

It's a common belief in many forms of spiritualism. I think it comes from Hegel and his notion of Geist, but generally it holds that there is a non-material, non-anthropomorphic, divine-like spirit that permeates everything in the universe. It was a particularly popular notion in the 19th century.
