What is static Phase Converter?

A phase converter converts single-phase, alternating current power to three-phase power. There are two general types, static converters and rotary phase converters. A basic form of rotary phase converter is a single-phase electrical motor with its shaft coupled to a three-phase alternator.

A static phase converter converts single-phase power to three-phase power by using electronic switching. They typically convert the single-phase, alternating current to direct current and then electronically synthesize three phase power output for use with three-phase equipment.
