Vauxhall corsa mil light flashes and now won't start?

similar complaint on Astra 1996

caused by Fuel pump malfunction

Replaced pump motor and filter the car ran perfectly around 3 days ago i replaced the steering collum and the ignition system because of someone trying to break into my car now it wont start instead all i get is a orange flashing light with a engien simbol with a power sign in the middle any ideas ???
