Yes, he's dead. He died in September 1, 2010. He wrote books of Touching Spirit Bear, Ghost of Spirit Bear, Tree Girl, Petey and more. He owned a bear for 26 years. I wish he was still alive so I can read the 3rd book of the Spirit Bear Series
