Sequentially steps taken when changing oil in internal-combustion engine?

-open oil filler cap

-remove oil pan drain plug

-wait for most of the oil to drain from the pan INTO A CONTAINER

-remove the oil filter, and place it on a surface to drain

-wait until dripping from oil pan stops

-install new oil filter

-replace oil pan drain plug

-fill crank case with specified amount of oil

-check dip stick to make sure correct amount of oil has been added
