What is a funeral cortage?

A funeral "cortege" (the Word "cortage" does not exist) is oftentimes referred to as a funeral procession. It can best be explained as an organized body of people traveling to a cemetery in a formal, ceremonial manner. In modern times, a funeral cortege usually consists of a motorcade; the body of the deceased is transported in a hearse, with family members and close friends following from behind.
