What is the main conflict of the book so b it?

I think the main conflict in the story So B. It is that when every time Bernadette talk to mama; mama keep saying the Word " SooF" and Heidi and Bernadette think that it has to mean something....(sorry if it is not the main conflict to you guys, but that's what I think)
