How should you ask a guest in a shower invitation to dress up?

At the bottom of the invitation , you put as follows:

Dress: Formal [ this would be long gowns for ladies and Dinner Jacket and tie for gentlemen]

Dress : Afternoon Formal [tea-length gown for ladies & dark suits & ties for gentlemen ]

Dress: Dressy Casual [anything you would wear to a fancy reataurant]

You don't want to go any further down the ladder unless you are having a Theme wedding .
